This small snail can be found both under rocks or on macroalgae. Its shell is banded greenish-white and red, although the size of the bands can vary and either of the two colours can be the dominant one. Adults have rounded whorls, but they tend to be straighter in juveniles. It differs from the closely related Thalotia conica by its relatively short spire and smaller size. Its short spire also distinguishes it from Prothalotia lehmanni, as does its smoothly rounded whorls, without distinct shoulders.
