This squat, conical snail is uncommon, but can be found on sponges and bryozoans, or under rocks. It has relatively strait whorls which are nodulose and is a bright orange in colour. Its whorls are outlined by double rows of red subsutural dashes on a more pale underlying colouration. This species is distinctive and unlikely to be confused with another.
