Sabellida is an order of filter-feeding worms that inhabit a protective tube consisting of mucous as well as sand, shell grit, or minerals such as calcium carbonate. Often, the only visible part of the animal is the crown of feeding tentacles that emerge from the tube, but these can also be completely retracted inside the tube.
