Distribution: Unknown. Probably widespread in SA waters
Habitat: Rocky coast and algae beds
Depth: Lower intertidal to 10+ metres
This slender and long-limbed sea spider is commonly found on algae. It is straw in colour, and covered with red bands on the legs and body. Its eyes are located on a raised node at the front of its head, while the relatively long bullet-shaped proboscis and chelifores (front claws) are pointed downwards and rearwards. The distinctive pattern of this species is the best way for non-experts to distinguish it from other sea spiders.
