Size: 5 cm

Distribution: Few SA records. Gulf waters and NE Kangaroo Island

Habitat: Sandy environments under rock

Depth: Subtidal to 10+ metres

This uncommon chiton can be found under rocks, usually subtidally. It is pinkish white, with streaks or patches of darker red, and concentric stripes on the end valves. It has pearly scales and heavily ribbed valves, both in the lateral and pleural areas. The combination of valve sculpture and colouration are unmistakable, along with the high keel common to Rhyssoplax.
