The Australian Pelican is the largest seabird commonly found in SA, weighing over 10kg and with a wingspan over 2 metres. It has a white body, with black wings, and a large eye with a yellow iris. Its pink bill, which is the longest of any bird species worldwide, is mostly straight, with a hook for gripping fish and a large pouch for capturing its prey.
