This parasitic isopod is almost always found attached to the outside of bony fishes, particularly the Leafy Sea Dragon (Phycodurus eques). It is a dark grey in colour, with two lighter stripes down the centre of the body, and white margins, although the female is much larger and more rounded than the male. This is one of the only isopod species in South Australia that attaches to the outside of bony fishes, and as such is not likely to be mistaken for any other species.
