Cnidoglanis macrocephalus - Estuary Cobbler (Family Plotosidae)

This eel-tailed catfish is commonly found in the shallows, on broken rocky bottoms. It is dark brown in colour, with white to yellowish speckling and blue eyes. It has a long single-lobed tail, and large barbels, which it uses to forage for food in crevices. It has venomous dorsal and pectoral fin spines, so care should be taken if it is hooked or handled.
