Distribution: SA coastal and gulf waters between Elliston and Cape Jervis
Habitat: Rocky areas and reef
Depth: Shallow subtidal
A common sight on SA's coasts, this species of greenish to blue-grey zoanthid forms dense and often large colonies on exposed rock. Each polyp consists of a thick tube and a crown of short tentacles, which are often retracted into the column, forming a rounded head. It is mostly unmistakable, except for the similar Isaurus cliftoni, although that species is less common, less dense, usually has mottled columns and forms smaller colonies.
