Distribution: All SA coastal and gulf waters west of Cape Jervis
Habitat: Rocky reef, seagrass beds
Depth: Subtidal to 10+ metres
Like others in its family, the Longhead Flathead spends most of its time motionless on the bottom. It is usually sandy brown, with darker blotches and usually has a brown bar between its eyes and another on its first dorsal fin. It is named for its long narrow snout.
