Distribution: Gulf St. Vincent, Spencer Gulf and northern Kangaroo Island
Habitat: Rocky areas
Depth: Subtidal
This zoanthid is usually encountered in mats on rocky sea floors. It consists of long tubes, with feeding tentacles that can be retracted into the tube. It is usually a dark grey, with a green, blue or brown tinge and pale patches and spots on both the tube and tentacles. This species closely resbembles Zoanthus robustus, which is a plain green without spots. It also differs in that colonies are much less dense, and usually not as large - around 1m maximum diameter.
