A small bleached colony on the underside of a rock
One of the few stony coral species found in SA, this species can grow to about a metre in diameter. It is usually a drab greyish or green/brown colour, with corallites arranges parallel to the edge of the colony. Similar to Plesiastra versipora and often sharing similar colouration, it is most easily differentiated by the irregular shape of its corallites, along with its form. Instead of the more regular dome of P. versipora colonies, this species has more of a sheet-like form, which looks like it has been "draped" over the rocky reef.
