This colourful nudibranch is the largest found in SA waters, growing to around 15cm long. It is common on jetty pylons, and can be recognised by its large size, orange/pink colouration with bright purple spots, and the bright red "lure" towards the rear of the animal. This appendage performs much the same function as a false eye-spot on a butterfly or fish, luring predators away from the animal's vital areas.
