Mites and Spiders

Arachnids are a class of mostly land-dwelling invertebrates, with 8 legs. Spiders are the most familiar arachnid, and a very small number can be classed as true intertidal spiders, living exclusively in marine environments. Mites can be aquatic, mostly freshwater, but there are a few marine species found in southern Australia.
