Flatheads

Platycephalidae (literally "flat head") is a family of bottom-dwelling fish, related to scorpionfish. They are flattened dorso-ventrally, giving them their name and distinctive appearance. They are ambush predators which spend most of their time lying still on or buried in the substrate. If handled, care should be taken due to their dorsal spines, which are mildly venomous and can deliver a painful sting.
