The family Syngnathidae includes the pipefishes, seahorses and sea dragons. These elongated fish generally have reduced fins and tails, and are unable to swim quickly. To hunt and avoid predators, they use the cover of seagrass or algae beds, and are often well-camouflaged to blend in with their habitat.
