Sea stars (Class Asteroidea) are characterised by their numerous arms, and possess radial symmetry. They differ from their close relatives, the brittle stars, by having thicker and less flexible arms, and no distinct demarcation between their arms and central disc. Sea stars can grow back lost limbs, and some species can reproduce a whole new individual from a single limb.
